![]() ![]() Lynch didn’t consider film as a medium until he was enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, where he had the realization that his static paintings could become “moving paintings with sound.” This would lead the twenty-five-year-old Lynch to apply to the newly founded American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where he moved to study filmmaking in 1971.
